Close the month and draft next month's plan
After a month ends, three short steps on Statement show how it went, record what was left on a goal, and draft next month's plan from your own history.
Why use it
A few minutes at the start of the month turns last month's numbers into a plan you actually use.
Before you start
- Pro, the free trial or a family plan
- Entries in the month that just ended
How to do it
Open Statement, or select the reminder on Today (shown in the first seven days of a month), then select "Start closing <month>".
How it went: read income received, what you spent and what is left.
What is left: choose a goal and select "Record it on the goal", or "Create a goal" if you have none. This records the amount on the goal only; your bank balance is unchanged.
Next month's plan: check the drafted amounts for each category, change any line, then select "Save as <month>'s plan". "Keep mine" leaves an existing plan as it is.
What happens next: Last month is closed, what was left is recorded on a goal, and the new month has a plan.
How the plan is drafted
Each category starts from what you usually spend on it in recent full months. It needs two full months of entries to draft a plan.
If the draft spends more than your income, Savingy says by how much and asks you to trim a line before saving.
If something goes wrong
"Needs two full months of entries to draft a plan."
Log or import earlier months with their real dates (/help-center/import-a-statement). You can still record what was left on a goal.
"The plan did not save. Please try again."
Check your connection and select save again. Nothing is changed until it saves.
